Falling standard of Education

Gone are the days when students who will apply to the university were just a handful and those admitted were much older and had a depth of knowledge over life. Their main reason for school was to fulfill a defect in their life that was preventing their work of life in the bigger world. For this reason, they came to school to gain knowledge but not particularly to acquire the small sheet of  paper where your name has been ascribed on it and maybe your class to distinguish yourself from your colleagues. Research was then encouraged and much knowledge were accumulated over time. I remember in class where a lecturer said during their period in the university, they were just 30 students in class and the class with the highest number of students was not even up to 50 students.
Now, the growing advocacy for education and women empowerment, the desire for education has increased overtime but the leaders seems not to notice. Now a student as young as 17years can gain access to the University compared to just a decade ago where such person would still be struggling to complete the junior examination. The journey to education has lessened and improved but the structures are still the same.
Why do we say the standard of learning is falling, previously when there was the "O" levels and "A" levels before reaching the university, leaders present made provisions for all these levels of education and the classrooms also conducive enough to contain all the students, no wander there was a maximum number of students for a class which was strictly adhered to that.
Now as leadership change hands from different political regimes, their made resolutions is to loot and share and pay a deaf ear to education, when they want to mind education, they then bring in new policies and attempt to build new schools that lack the very the old ones lack. In my small opinion, the number of educational institutions in a country does not guarantee the better education we want but the quality of facilities and accoutrements are what is needed for education to be a success.
For the record, the number of students that apply to universities nowadays accounts to about 300% increase compared to previous and the infrastructures has not experience a comparable increase since, with technology also, more courses has been increased and still there is little or no classrooms to hatch these ideas. Now a class that was previously taking 30 students now accumulates about 300+ and same classrooms contains them. This has gone a long way to reduce the standard of education in the country and students gain little or no knowledge after four years of education. Students with these stress come out with first class and now it becomes a question of doubt because they fail to exhibit their knowledge of school at the job environment. So how do they get these Classes?
